In the promotional gifts industry, we often talk about "high perceived value", especially when we're talking about business gifts. We throw the words around as if their meaning is a given, but defining the term precisely is a bit more difficult. Exactly what is it that gives particular ones a higher perceived value than others?
First, a quick explanation of the term: it's been said that perception is everything. When you give business gifts to associates or employees, that gift will become part of their experience with and perception of your company. A big part of that perception will be how much value they BELIEVE your gift has. They're thinking, "How much did this company spend on me?" The actual amount that you spent has very little to do with this impression. Few of them have a catalogue at their fingertips to research it.
